Solicitors for the elderly for later life planning
As we get older, life brings new challenges and our priorities change. Our later life planning team are experts in providing practical and empathetic support for older clients or those who for other reasons, such as illness, require more specialist support.
When it comes to seeking out legal services for older and vulnerable loved ones, it is important to find experienced solicitors you can trust. Our team include members of Solicitors for the Elderly (SFE), a national association of independent lawyers who specialise in older client law and understand the need for a holistic approach to problem solving.
Our services are completely personal to you and your family, taking into account what you need now and what you may need in the future.
Our services include:
Lasting Power of Attorney
A Lasting Power of Attorney is a legal document where you appoint someone you trust to support you with decision making, or to make decisions on your behalf if you are no longer able to.
Deputyships and Court of Protection
If you lose capacity and don’t have a Lasting Power of Attorney in place, it will be necessary for a relative, friend, social services or other professional to apply to the Court of Protection to be appointed as a Deputy to make decisions on your behalf.
Moving into care
Moving into a care home can be a difficult change, partly because it means a change in lifestyle, but also because it can be unexpected. We can provide details of care providers across the region, ranging from flats with communal facilities and support, to residential and nursing homes with 24-hour care. We can also arrange visits or attend homes on behalf of the family if needed.
Trust & tax planning
Trusts are much more than a tax-efficient way of passing assets on to the next generation. They can also offer protection of assets for the benefit of future generations in the short or long term. Our team of specialists can advise and assist you with all aspects of tax and trusts.
Long-term care planning
It’s never too soon to put some practical plans in place and get peace of mind from knowing that you and your loved ones will be taken care of, no matter what happens. Taking time now to put these plans in place will make life that little bit easier in the future.
