Congratulations to the England netball team as they claim historic Commonwealth Games victory
Mogers Drewett trainee solicitor Eboni Beckford-Chambers helps the team bring home the gold
We’re incredibly proud of the England netball team for scooping gold at the 2018 Commonwealth Games. Congratulations to all the players, including Mogers Drewett trainee solicitor Eboni Beckford-Chambers, for an incredible performance which saw them beat host nation Australia.
The Roses etched their place in the history books with a 52-51 victory over the defending champions, marking their first Commonwealth Games gold medal.
Managing to excel in both her legal and sporting career, Eboni joined Mogers Drewett in November 2016 as a trainee in the dispute and resolution practice. She has a huge amount of experience on the international netball stage with over 80 test caps for England.
This was her third Commonwealth Games, having helped the squad win bronze at Delhi 2010 before narrowly missing out on a medal at Glasgow 2014.
Commenting on Eboni’s ability to balance being an elite athlete with a demanding role in a law firm, Steven Treharne, managing partner, said: “There’s no doubt that Eboni’s schedule is incredibly challenging, but she’s got the stamina, commitment and passion to succeed both at work and on the court.
“We’ve been rooting for the Roses team throughout the Games and couldn’t be more delighted that they have been crowned Commonwealth champions. Huge congratulations to the entire squad!”
